Sharing recipes: loving Asian inspired cooking Our Blog Carnival
We are thrilled to be hosting our first blog carnival! Our debut gathering will pay homage to Asian-inspired food recipes. We’ve gathered recipes from some of our favourite bloggers and created a sample menu you can use to host a dinner featuring foods from all across Asia. From China to Thailand and everywhere in between. With each course your guests can feel the spirit of travelling abroad!
My Imperfect Kitchen
Egg Rolls by Sara
The philosophy that Sara from My Imperfect Kitchen lives by reminds me of a Chinese proverb – “gold cannot be pure, and people cannot be perfect”. This is quite appropriate seeing that her recipe for egg rolls is our perfect choice for the start of your meal. As Sara describes how to make these golden crispy, deep fried rolls, she provides fantastic pictures to show you how to make your own, step by step. Originating in China, these egg rolls can be filled with whatever your heart desires; they’re a great start to your food tour around Asia!

Laura’s Sweet Spot
Carrot Ginger Soup by Laura
It took Laura from Laura’s Sweet Spot a trip to the dentist to realise the dulcet relationship between carrot and ginger. After getting her wisdom teeth out she was looking for something more than smoothies in her liquid diet. She stumbled upon this Carrot Ginger Soup. The savory sweetness of the carrot and the spirited zest of the ginger dance ever so gracefully across your tastebuds. Following a rich appetizer of egg rolls, this carrot ginger soup will cleanse the palette and warm the bellies of your guests.

Diabetic Foodie
Green Curry Chicken with Mango by Diabetic Foodie
For the main course, your guests will travel to Thailand with this Green Curry Chicken with Mango recipe. Shelby from Diabetic Foodie is a fantastic cook that keeps her food heart-healthy and palette-pleasing. In this recipe she uses the spiciness from the Thai green curry paste to complement the sweetness of mango. The crunch of vegetables, leanness of the chicken and creaminess of the coconut milk finish off this dish nicely. Your guests will revel in the combination of flavors and textures of this wonderful curry!

Asian Inspired Tabouli Salad by Roni
Roni at Green Lite Bites has the task of feeding a picky husband and two little boys, which is probably a situation that most can relate to! She does an incredible job of creating nutritional, flavorsome recipes that never disappoint. This Asian-inspired Tabouli Salad will be a perfect complement as a side dish to the main curry dish. It is a quick and delicious medley of bulgur, Asian veggies and the time-honored combo of soy sauce, cilantro and ginger – it will surely satisfy your guests!

All Day I Dream About Food
Matcha Frozen Yogurt Pops (Low Carb and Gluten Free) by Carolyn
For a subtle and refreshing finish to your meal, treat your guests to these Matcha Frozen Yogurt Pops. Carolyn from All Day I Dream About Food, one of our favourite bloggers, writes a charming, humorous post on how to make these treats. Matcha, a fine powdered green tea that is chock full of antioxidants, has quite a unique, complex flavoring. Initially matcha has a delicate, astringent taste, but that’s immediately followed by a subtle sweetness that lingers in your mouth. These beautiful green, Japanese-inspired popsicles will definitely leave a lasting impression with your guests!
