Tambol Bo Phut,
One of the best restaurants in Koh Samui

With a complete abundance of choices of Thai restaurants and bars covering the lovely island of Koh Samui it is hard to have a favourite, but I’m convinced I have it.

The Pirate is a great bar and restaurant. It has only been open for one month but is already building up and excellent reputation with the local and expat communities. It has a really laid back and relaxed feel, outside there is a sweet little patio area filled with bamboo tables and brightly coloured lanterns, inside has a slight American style diner feel about it and pool table.

The pirate has a fantastic simple menu serving an amazing array Thai food and international dishes. I score it ten out of ten for everything and I think you will struggle to find a better Thai restaurant in Koh Samui.

Restaurants in Koh Samui are in absolute abundance but The Pirate is a unique find. It is a family run affair and the service is very laid back and friendly. The other brilliant draw of The Pirate is the price of the menu, it is unbelievably cheap; soft drinks are 15 Baht and are served in a pint glass with a flower and straw, fruit shakes are 60 Baht and the coconut shake is served in the coconut. They have a happy hour from 19:00-20:00 each day where you can often get three Chang beers for 100 Baht.

The food whatever you choose is always well presented and delicious. They make a great prawn pad Thai and chicken yellow curry. For international food the beef burgers are fantastic they do a homemade burger patty with chips for 80 Baht and an incredible club sandwich and chips for 70 Baht, the club sandwich is honestly my favourite; layered with chicken, ham, bacon, egg cheese, salad and mayo it is packed to bursting and such great value for money.

For Thai restaurants Koh Samui I don’t think you can beat these guys on menu, service, price and atmosphere!

It’s not hard to find located across the road from the Bandara resort and nestled in a parade of new and modern looking shops in the Tambol Bo Phut area. Coming from Mae Nam go past the Lawana resort on your left and then look right and you’ll spot it. Coming from Lamai/ Bo Phut go past Samui go karting on your left and it’s another 25 metres.
